After arriving at Paro International Airport, you will be greeted and welcomed by our agent’s representative and will escort you to Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan. Paro to Thimphu is approximately 1-hour journey by road. The journey to Thimphu offers the picturesque views of the surrounding landscape and some of the historical monuments. One such monument being Tamchog Gonpa. It is a temple that is dedicated to the 13th-century saint Thangthong Gyalpo, iron bridge builder. This temple is located across the river from Paro to Thimphu. In order to get to the temple, one must cross an iron chain bridge, one of the few remaining of the many that Thangthong Gyalpo built. As you reach to Thimphu, our representative will escort you to your hotel, check-in, and refresh.
Now, we will set out for first sightseeing at National Memorial Chorten which was built in the memory of Third King of Bhutan and it’s dedicated to World Peace. Buddha Dordenma which is a gigantic Buddha statue in the mountains of Bhutan.
After the happening day, spend the rest of the time at leisure. Go out and stroll on the streets with the option to shop at Norzin Lam Craft Stalls, It's the single best place in Thimphu to shop for crafts, with stalls selling traditional crafts from embroidered boots to handmade paper. As the day ends, come back to the hotel and sleep off the night.
Kick start the day with a delicious breakfast and get ready for a second day tour of Thimphu. You will visit the Takin reserve center, a large fenced enclosure in Motithang. Takin is the national animal of Bhutan (Budorcas taxicolor) which is believed to be made up of an ox, the antelope, a sheep, and a goat. It is rare and endemic to the eastern Himalayas. Visit Tashichhodzong. It is a fortress in the northern edge of Thimphu city. It has been the seat of the government since 1952 and presently houses the throne room and offices of the king, the secretariat and the ministries of finance. Visit Simply Bhutan where the guests will be briefed about Bhutan, its rich culture and tradition. If guests get time then they can visit the Centenary Vegetables Market which is two stored building fully equipped with colorful and fresh scented verities of vegetables.
Visit Changangkha Lhakhang, it is a fortress-like a temple and monastic school. Visit the National Textile Museum and the Folk Heritage Museum others places the guest wants to visit.
After the mesmerizing day of sightseeing, spend the rest of the time at leisure. Go out and stroll on the streets or you can go to Karaoke (extra charge) and get yourself lost in the world of music. Return your hotel and have a restful sleep.
Wake up to the hearty breakfast and get ready to travel back to Paro, another beautiful valley with lots of stories to tell. On the way, you can stop at bird’s eye viewpoint and by the riverside of Pa-Chhu. Visit the oldest temple in Bhutan called Kichu Lakhang. It was built in the 7th Century by Tibetan King.
As you reach Paro, check-in to the hotel and refresh before setting out for National Museum of Bhutan, Ta Dzong, it used to be watch tower built to defend Rinpung Dzong during inter-valley wars of 17th century. Then visit Rinpung Dzong, built-in 1646 by Zhbadrung Ngawang Namgyal, the spiritual ruler of Bhutan. It houses the monastic body of Paro. Then see Jangtsa Dumtseg Lhakhang, it’s a 15th-century Buddhist temple and, Airport View Point.
Spend the rest of the time at leisure and return to your hotel and rest well for the adventurous trek ahead.
After breakfast, get ready for the adventurous trek to Paro Taktshang, well known as “Tiger’s Nest.” While the hike seems to be hard, it’s very rewarding. If you don’t feel so strong, you can climb just halfway to cafeteria with a nice view of the place or enjoy the guided pony ride (Extra charge). You can consider climbing in the morning or early afternoon depending on the weather, your fitness and preferences. If you like, you can also take the Bhutanese dress for a hike, to make memorable photos on the way! The rest day in leisure or optional program as per your preferences. The Tiger’s nest is prominent Himalayan Buddhist sacred site and monastery precariously perched on the cliff 900 meters off of the ground. On average it takes between 4 to 5 hours to do the round trip hike. Check-in at the hotel and then spend time at leisure.
Return to your hotel and to make your last supper a memorable and romantic one, we will arrange for you the romantic dinner with glimmering candle lights, romantic-sounding foods and a great bottle of red.
After the breakfast, pack your luggage, and prepare to check out from the hotel. Our representative will escort you to the Paro International Airport from where you can board your flight back home. Your trip to Bhutan may have ended but the lovely memories you made will stay in your heart forever.
